Calligraphy Invitations

Over the past few years more and more people are having their invitations written in calligraphy then sent to a printer to have printed.  This is a great way to have a truly unique and special invitation.

Basically the calligrapher writes our whatever you wish to have printed (invitation, reply set, return address, etc.) then a digital file is sent to the invitation company of your choice, and they print the invitations from the digital file.  It's a fairly simple process and most all stationary shops are very familiar working with custom calligraphy art work.

Here are a few reproduction pieces I have done over the past year or so.

If you are interested in these services please feel free to contact me!  I would love to help you create your own unique invitation!

Tools

I thought some of you might enjoy seeing several of the "tools" that I use when working on a project.  There are more, but these are the ones that I use the most.

This is my pen holder and the part that you dip in the ink is called a nib.

There are so many different types of ink, but for the most part I use McCaffery's.

This is my light box...a MUST have.  It allows me to see the guide lines through the paper.

Envelope Drying Rack

This is always by my side when working on a project.  It holds all the answers.  You would be amazed at how many different forms of address exist.

Wedding Planner

For those of you who are already married will more than likely agree with me...for those of you who are not married please listen carefully!  A wedding planner is worth every penny!  Not necessarily someone who can plan every detail of your wedding for you because let's face it that is most of the fun, but more specifically someone who can take the reins starting at the rehearsal all the way through the wedding and reception.  The less you (and your mother) have to worry about the more relaxed and focused you can be on what is actually taking place rather than all of the details.

If you are in the Birmingham area I highly recommend Carol Crabbe.  She and her husband Charles work together and they are an amazing team.  I have the privilege of going to church with them and when she found out I was in the calligraphy business she asked me for some samples.

Welcome to the Blog

I have been blown away this year by the amount of calligraphy work I have been blessed to have.  This whole calligraphy "thing" started with a desire to address my own wedding invitations (which I didn't get to do) and has turned into a business!

Because I have frequent requests for pricing and samples I thought incorporating all of my information into a blog might be the best way to go.  Please bear with me as I tweak the blog over then next few weeks.

I am open to all suggestions and comments anyone may have.  Thanks for visiting!

Baby Shower Gift Tags

I made these gift tags for a diapers and wipes shower that I went to this weekend here in Birmingham.  I have just started playing around with watercolor a little bit and hope to experiment more in the future.  I thought these turned out well.

Program Names

I didn't have enough time to address my own wedding invitations, but I was able to do the calligraphy for my programs.
